Dark Foliage + Bright Weigela Blooms

Why Wine & Roses® Weigela Shrubs?

For starters, it's the only Weigela variety with dark glossy foliage, similar to deep red wine, plus bright pink, rose-like blooms. Basically, it delivers contrast as you've never seen...and since it's one of the few reblooming Weigelas on the market, it's got the best of both worlds.

It's no wonder why landscapers love to use this Weigela in high-end neighborhoods. The Wine & Roses® Weigela's leaves are a dark, rich burgundy color, ideal for high traffic areas like sidewalks, driveways, and patios.

Beginning in late spring, the Wine & Roses® Weigela offers fluorescent dark pink blooms in a show that doesn't stop. In fact, you get vivid color for the rest of the summer! And since it grows in a neat, compact silhouette, it's perfect for low-growing groups, corners of your home, and beyond. When it comes to the Wine & Roses®, you're not limited in planting.

Plus, it's virtually carefree. Though it prefers well-drained soil, this shrub is highly adaptable to almost any soil type and thrives through cold, heat, and drought.

Other big-box retailers (if they even stock the Wine & Roses®) sell bare-root. But your shrub from Fast Growing Trees arrives with a healthy, developed root system that has been planted, grown, and shipped with care.

In fact, our larger Weigelas are ready to give you tons of color in the first year!

Get an effortless look that’s second to none in your own landscape, in flower beds, foundation plantings, and beyond. Get your own Wine & Roses® today!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Start by choosing an area with full sun to partial sun (at least 4 hours of sunlight daily) and well-drained soil – the Wine & Roses® is adaptable to nearly any type, as long as there’s no standing water, and it will adapt to some shade. When you’re ready to plant, dig a hole large enough to accommodate your plant’s roots, place your tree and backfill the soil and then water to settle the roots.

2. Watering: Water your Wine & Roses® regularly during the first growing season, or about once per week. You may need to water more often during times of extreme heat. But if you’re not sure when to water your Weigela, however, simply check the soil about 2 to 3 inches down – if the soil is dry here, it’s time to water.

3. Pruning: Pruning is not necessary for your Wine & Roses® Weigela – simply space your plantings to allow your Weigela to grow naturally. If you want a more formal appearance, prune annually after the second flowering period at the end of summer.

4. Fertilizer: Fertilize your Wine & Roses® with a slow-release solution before new growth begins in the spring.
