Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant your Vitex in an area that receives full sun (6 to 8 hours of sunlight daily). Well-drained soil is also best for the Vitex Chaste.
Dig your hole about twice as wide as the rootball, place your tree, and backfill the surrounding soil. Once you've finished planting, water the surrounding area and mulch to conserve moisture.
2. Watering: Water once or twice weekly, or simply check your tree's surrounding soil. It's time to water your tree once the soil is dry around 2 or 3 inches down.
3. Fertilizing: Feed with an all-purpose fertilizer once a year in the spring.
4. Pruning: Prune in the late winter for shaping, and remove any dead or broken branches throughout the year.

I purchased 2 of these trees and they arrived looking very healthy. I got them planted and keep them watered twice a day as it has been in the 90’s for the past couple of weeks. I amended the clay soil and added a starter to get them going. They look just great. I'm needing a bit of shade in this west facing area so I can plant hostas near the trees. I wish they had been a bit larger considering the cost of each tree. I purchased a 3rd tree elsewhere and it was half the price and only slightly smaller.
