Gorgeous Colors For Every Yard, Spring Through Autumn!

The Thundercloud Plum is showy all year long. Without a doubt, the standout feature of this tree, sometimes called a Cherry Plum, is its breathtaking colors, different from any other tree in your garden.

Delicate white and pink flowers appear in spring. Sweet single pink and white flowers appear in early spring and blanket the stems of the Thundercloud Plum. Fragrant and irresistible to butterflies, your senses will be tantalized every single spring as you smell the flowers and watch butterflies dance around the delicate and showy blooms.

Ruby red leaves appear in the summer. Following the blankets of sweet flowers, the leaves of the Thundercloud appear in summer. When they first show up, they present a jaw dropping ruby red color. Typically reserved for autumn, you'll love the bold contrast this tree will make on your summer landscape.

And you get dazzling, deep-purple leaves in autumn. The stunning purple color is what really makes this tree so popular. Amongst the warm browns and oranges of fall, the Thundercloud in your yard will standout with cool, mesmerizing purple tones.

Sweet plums join the summer and autumn show. In late summer and early autumn, you might even see little, deep red cherry plums appear. Completely edible, and well loved by birds, you'll enjoy this edible ornamental whether you're picking a healthy treat from your tree or just watching the songbirds it attracts.

Perfect for small, city yards or big, country landscapes. The Thundercloud tolerates city pollution, and at a manageable 15-20 ft., it won't overpower urban landscapes. Even if you've got a large yard, scattering a few Thunderclouds throughout can offer vibrant pops of color amongst a sea of summer green.

Create a royal entrance to your driveway or sidewalk. Imagine how stunning your entryway would look flanked by two Thunderclouds draped in pink, ruby red and deep purple. You and your guests will feel like royalty every time you come home.

Plant it in the sunshine. The Thundercloud loves the sun, and thrives perfectly in climates with a warmer winter. By planting it in full sun, you'll get the deep purple colors that make this tree a favorite.

Everyone wants a showstopper like the Thundercloud in their yard. You're not the only one to fall in love with the way this tree looks. A perfect ornamental specimen with unique colors throughout the season, the Thundercloud is extremely popular. Order yours today before they're gone.

Planting & Care

The Thundercloud Plum will perform best if you plant it in well-drained soil that is mildly acidic. Be sure to plant it in full sun. It will thrive in the shade, but won't produce the deep purple colors. Plant in a hole twice as wide and a little deeper than the root ball. The Thundercloud has an extensive root system, so be sure to give it enough room to grow.

Watering: As soon as you plant your tree, saturate it with water. If you live in a hot or dry area, water your Thundercloud twice a week. Other climates can water once a week, achieving 1 inch of water each week. The Thundercloud performs best if water is added slowly and deeply with a drip irrigation system.

Fertilization: Add a 5-5-5 fertilizer in early spring before the new growth each year to get the best performance from your tree.

Pruning: The best time to prune your Thundercloud is in its dormant season in winter. The Thundercloud can get weighted down by rain, so pruning helps it maintain an upright shape through the growing season. Simply remove dead and diseased branches, and trim to shape.

Pests: Check your tree frequently for any pests. A strong stream of water will get rid of most. Keeping your tree well maintained will help prevent against any pests and diseases.

Beautiful tree

After 2 unsuccessful tries at a cherry tree, we decided to go with the Thundercloud. So far it is perfect. Glad we made this decision.

GROWING BEAUTIFULLY!

I bought four Thundercloud Plums. I planted my one in Summer 2020 in my front yard and it was about 4-5 ft tall. It's looking nice and has grown and filled out a lot. I planted two more around Sept 2020 and the 4th one Summer 2021. I will post two of them that I planted in 2020. All of them I ordered about 4-5 feet tall.

Beautiful tree

We live in an area where multiple cedar trees make the soil acidic. This little tree is holding it's own during it's first year in the ground.

Beautiful Specimen

Shipping was quicker than i thought, tree was taller than i thought, the shipping people even unfolded their special box so when i came outside, instead of a big (usually dented) box, I saw a beautiful, living tree! I've ordered a few items recently from all the big sites out there, half as an experiment & half just doing my landscaping, and after doing so, I can definitively say that FGT has the best of everything. This tree was strong, straight & tall, had no broken branches and looked great. Unfortunately, my plum buddy isn't doing too well right now, but I'm almost certain that is my fault & not FGTs. 5/5 would buy again 5/5 have bought again lol

Started slow but....

Planted the tree with some pretty good fertilizer. Watered 5 to 10 gallons every week for about a month. Then came winter. I thought, this thing is not going to grow. To my surprise in the beginning of spring, BOOM! Now it is early May and this thing with all the rain on the east coast the last few days has really improved. With a little patience I believe I have a winner. SO far very beautiful leaves. Give it a try and be patient.
