Three Seasons of Color + Big White Blooms
Why Milky Way Chinese Dogwood Trees?
A cultivar of the Kousa Dogwood, the Milky Way is a small, deciduous flowering tree that suits almost any landscape location.
The Milky Way delights with a vase-shaped habit in the early years, eventually transitioning to a more rounded silhouette. Late spring brings showy blooms with white bracts and yellow-green pops of color. In summer, the flowers give way to berry-like pink fruit that lasts into fall, bringing graceful wildlife like birds and butterflies to your garden. In autumn, foliage turns a blazing red-orange.
Visual interest throughout the spring, summer, and fall means that the Milky Way Dogwood Tree is a choice selection for home gardeners, transforming your yard into the best on the block.

Planting & Care
1. Planting: Choose a planting site that receives full sunlight (about six hours of sun) or filtered shade. Dogwood trees are highly adaptable to many soil types, but they thrive in moist, fertile soils high in organic matter.
Dig a hole that is three times the diameter of your tree’s root ball and of equal depth. Place your tree in the planting hole, keeping the top of the root ball even with the ground. Adjust your tree’s position/angle then use the original soil to back fill the planting hole. Water the area immediately to settle the soil.
2. Watering: It’s best to water your tree once or twice a week. Be sure to water correctly - light green leaves are a sign of overwatering, while drooping leaves can signify both over- and under-watering. Generally, you'll want to water until the soil is moist 2 to 3 inches down.
3. Fertilizing: If you choose to fertilize, do so sparingly in April or May. Any general-purpose fertilizer will work.

So far so good
My tree arrived well and leafed out- it was still a bit cold in my zone for leaves and I was surprised that it wasn’t shipped in dormancy for spring planting. But, it held on to its leaves and even gave a blossom despite the chill in my northerly zone 4b, on a windy and elevated west- facing slope. We planted it as a memorial to our dear old dog who died of cancer last fall, and sprinkled her ashes around the base under a layer of hay mulch. Looking forward to remembering her when it blooms in the springs to come.
Top Quality Kousa Dogwood (Milky Way)
Our 6 foot Kousa Dogwood Milky Way arrived fully leafed-out and healthy. The new tree is thriving and looks every bit as impressive as one bought at a local nursery - which is fully sold out of Kousa Dogwoods at the moment. Fingers crossed that our new tree handles the upcoming NC heat. So far, A+ experience.
