Planting & Care
1. Planting: During the winter months, both the Dieffenbachia and Song of India plants will enjoy bright light. In the warmer days of spring and summer, it will prefer indirect light and a bit of dappled shade. Both will thrive in warm temperatures, so be sure to keep your Dieffenbachia and Song of India away from drafty areas.
You can keep your house plant combo in its shipped container until it needs to be repotted - typically when you see roots growing out of the bottom of the pot. When repotting, select a container that's twice the width of the shipped container, with good drainage.
2. Watering: Water your Dieffenbachia and Song of India plants lightly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not soggy. A good rule of thumb: Put your finger in the soil to check its level of moisture. There is no need to water until you have a full inch of dryness starting from the top of the soil.
FGT Tip: Our only recommendation: Don't ingest the leaves of your Dieffenbachia, or touch the plant's milky sap. The leaves contain a poison that can cause a temporary inability to speak if ingested (giving the plant its namesake, "dumb"). The plant’s milky sap can also irritate the skin. Keep curious pets and children away.
